═══ GETTING STARTED & BOOKING ═══
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: If you can, reach out as soon as you’re thinking about it. Planning ahead simply gives you more choice and makes everything feel calmer. If you have a particular time of year in mind, I can help you choose a date that suits your family’s energy and routines.
Q: How do I book a Discovery Call?
A: You can book a Discovery Call through my website. It’s a relaxed chat where you tell me about your family, what matters to you, and what you’d like this to make visible. I’ll ask a few simple questions, explain how the experience works, and make sure you feel clear on what happens next.
Q: What happens during the Discovery Call?
A: We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, what you want your portraits to feel like, and any practical details that matter (location, timing, who’s involved). If it feels like the right fit, the usual flow is Discovery Call → choose the date immediately afterwards. If you need time to check diaries, that’s fine too.
Q: Where does the experience take place — do you come to us?
A: You can choose either an in-home experience or an outdoor experience. In-home can work beautifully for families who want something that feels like their real life — familiar spaces, routines, and the way everyone naturally settles. Outdoors can be a better fit if you want more space to move, or your children feel freer outside. If you’re unsure which suits you best, I’ll help you decide during the Discovery Call.
Q: We’re not “photo people” — is this still for us?
A: Yes. You don’t need to know what to do in front of a camera. I’ll guide you enough that you don’t feel awkward or stuck, but the aim isn’t to turn you into a different version of yourselves. I’m looking for the things that are already true: the expressions, the humour, the closeness, the way you fit together.
Q: Do you offer weekdays or weekends?
A: Yes — I offer both weekday and weekend availability, and we’ll choose a time that works with your family’s routines and commitments.
Q: How long does it take from first enquiry to having a date in the diary?
A: Usually it’s quick. We start with the Discovery Call, and if it feels like the right fit we can choose a date straight afterwards. If you need to check school calendars, childcare, or a partner’s rota, I can hold a couple of provisional options while you confirm.
Q: What if I need to check with my partner first?
A: That’s completely normal. If it helps, your partner is welcome to join the Discovery Call. And if you’d rather speak first and then check diaries, I can hold provisional dates while you check so you’re not starting again from scratch.
Q: Do you offer in-home experiences if our house is small / messy / not ‘perfect’?
A: Yes. Your home doesn’t need to be tidy, styled, or “photo-ready”. I’ll work with what’s there and choose pockets of good light and calm. The goal is not to photograph a showroom — it’s to reflect what home feels like for your family. If there’s something you’re worried about (space, clutter, mess), tell me — I’ll be straightforward about what matters and what doesn’t.
Q: What makes you different?
A: I build the experience around how your family actually works, rather than asking your family to fit around the photography. There’s no pressure to perform, no expectation that children behave perfectly, and no need to present a polished version of your life. The meaning is already there — my role is to notice it, give it space to happen naturally, and reflect it back to you.
Q: Do you photograph pets as part of a family experience?
A: Yes — if your pet is part of your family, they’re welcome to be included. I keep it simple and realistic: I work with your pet’s personality and energy, and I plan in a way that doesn’t rely on perfect behaviour. If you’re worried it will feel chaotic, I’ll help you think through timing, breaks, and what your pet needs to stay settled.
Q: What if my question isn’t listed here?
A: Please ask. Every family has its own dynamics, and it’s completely fine if your question is specific. If you’re unsure whether something will work, I’d rather you ask directly so you feel clear before you decide anything.
═══ BEFORE YOUR EXPERIENCE ═══
Q: What should we wear?
A: Wear something you feel like yourselves in — comfortable, familiar, and easy to move in. You don’t need to buy anything new.
If you’d like a bit of optional guidance: clothes tend to photograph best when they don’t shout for attention (for example, fewer big logos), and when everyone feels physically comfortable. Beyond that, I’d rather you feel like you than feel “styled”.
Q: Do you provide outfits or a client wardrobe?
A: No — families wear their own clothing. I keep guidance light and practical, because the point is to reflect your real life, not dress you as someone else.
Q: Should we bring more than one outfit?
A: Usually, no. For most families, one set of outfits keeps things simpler and helps the experience feel relaxed rather than like an event you have to manage.
If there’s a practical reason to bring a spare (for example, very young children), I’ll tell you.
Q: How much time should we allow for the experience?
A: Please set aside 5 hours in total. The whole experience is usually around 4 hours, but having a bit of extra time means nobody has to rush.
As a guide, it’s up to 2 hours of photographs, then a short break (normally around 45 minutes), then your Design Consultation, which is just over an hour.
The important thing is: you don’t need to fill the time or keep the children performing. I work around your family’s pace.
Q: How should we prepare the children beforehand?
A: Keep it simple. The best preparation is to treat it like something calm you’re doing together, not a big build-up where they feel pressure to behave.
You can tell them I’m coming to spend time with you and take some portraits while you do normal things together. I’ll guide you on the day, and children don’t need to do anything “right” for this to work.
Q: What if my partner isn’t excited about having portraits taken?
A: That’s fine. Your partner doesn’t need to be enthusiastic about having portraits taken for the experience to work.
I won’t ask anyone to perform. I’ll give clear direction where it helps, but the focus is on natural connection and how you are together. If there’s anything your partner finds particularly uncomfortable, tell me and I’ll work around it.
Q: How do we coordinate outfits for the whole family?
A: Think “together” rather than “matching”. If you want to keep it simple, choose clothes that sit comfortably alongside each other rather than lots of competing patterns.
Comfort and feeling like yourselves matter more than coordinating perfectly. If there’s a favourite jumper, a school cardigan, or something that feels like your real week, that can absolutely belong.
Q: Do we need to tidy the house before an in-home experience?
A: No — your home doesn’t need to be tidy, styled, or “photo-ready”. I’m not photographing your interior design; I’m photographing your family.
I’ll work with the space you have and choose pockets that feel calmer. If there’s something you’re worried about, tell me — I’ll be straightforward about what matters and what doesn’t.
Q: Can we bring sentimental items to include in the experience?
A: Yes. If there’s something that genuinely belongs to your family story — a book you always read, a blanket, something from a grandparent, a toy that’s part of daily life — it can be included.
It works best when it’s something you’d naturally have around anyway, rather than a prop you feel you should bring.
Q: What if we are running late?
A: Let me know as soon as you can. I understand that family life doesn’t always run to schedule. Depending on how late we’re starting and what we have planned, I’ll tell you clearly whether we can continue as planned or whether we need to simplify something.
Q: What if we need to reschedule or cancel?
A: If you need to reschedule or cancel on short notice, that’s accepted — just let me know as soon as you can.
If you reschedule, a £100 deposit is needed for the next date at the time of rescheduling. That amount comes back to you in full and goes towards your purchase on the day of your experience. If the rescheduled date is then cancelled, that £100 is not refunded.
Q: How do you choose the best time of day?
A: I plan the timing around your family’s routine and the light we need for the experience.
If we’re at home, I’ll plan for the light we need in your space at that time. If we’re outdoors, I’ll suggest a time and place that gives us the right light while still working comfortably around your family.
═══ DURING YOUR EXPERIENCE ═══
Q: What if I’m not photogenic?
A: It’s completely okay if you feel that way. You don’t need to feel confident in front of a camera for this to work.
I’ll guide you enough that you don’t feel awkward or stuck, but I’m not looking for a “perfect” version of you. I’m watching for what’s real: the expressions, the humour, the closeness, the way you naturally fit together.
The aim is that you recognise yourselves — not that you look like you’re doing a photoshoot.
Q: What if I’ve never felt confident in photos before?
A: You don’t need confidence as a starting point. You don’t need to know how to stand, where to put your hands, or how to smile “properly”.
I’ll give clear direction when it helps, and then I’ll step back and let things unfold in a way that feels like your family. This is designed around real connection rather than performance — so you’re not trying to hold a pose or keep a certain expression.
Q: What happens during the experience — what will we actually do?
A: You spend time together. I’ll guide you through a loose structure so you’re never wondering what to do next, but it won’t feel like a rigid list.
Depending on where we are, I’ll give you enough structure that you know what’s happening, while leaving room for your family’s personalities and relationships to show up naturally.
Q: Will you tell us how to pose?
A: I’ll guide you, but I won’t pose you into something that doesn’t feel like you.
If you need direction, I’ll give it clearly and simply — especially at the start — and then I’ll let you settle into being together. The goal is that your portraits feel recognisable, not performed.
Q: What if the children don’t cooperate?
A: Children don’t need to cooperate perfectly for this to work. I expect them to be themselves.
I work around their energy and attention span, and I don’t rely on them sitting still or smiling on cue. If someone is silly, shy, loud, or clingy, that’s simply where they are in that moment, and I’ll work with it rather than against it.
Q: What if someone has a meltdown / a difficult moment?
A: That’s okay. It happens in real family life, and it doesn’t mean the experience has failed.
If someone needs a pause, we pause. I’ll give you space and adjust what we’re doing so there’s no pressure to push through.
Q: What if my partner feels awkward or doesn’t want to be involved much?
A: That’s fine. I won’t force anyone into something that feels uncomfortable.
Once there’s no pressure to perform, it can become much easier to take part in a way that feels natural. And if your partner prefers a lighter role, I’ll work around that too.
Q: Do you photograph one family at a time?
A: Yes — I photograph one family at a time. The experience is designed to feel unrushed and private, so you can settle in without other families around you.
Q: What if we feel awkward at the start?
A: It’s completely fine if things feel a little unfamiliar at the start. You’re getting used to me being there and to having a camera around.
I’ll give you enough direction to get started, and as you settle into being together I’ll step back more. You don’t have to create connection — you already have it. My job is to notice it and reflect it back.
Q: Can we include a pet during the experience?
A: Yes — if your pet is part of your family, they’re very welcome to be included.
I keep it simple and realistic and work with your pet’s personality and energy. I don’t rely on perfect behaviour. If you’re worried it will feel chaotic, I’ll help you think through timing, breaks, and what your pet needs to stay settled.
Q: What if our family doesn’t fit a traditional setup?
A: That’s okay. Families come in lots of shapes, and you don’t need to fit a particular version of “family” for this to work.
We can keep it simple and follow where the meaning is — who needs to be included, what relationships matter most, and what would feel true to you. If there’s something sensitive you want me to be aware of, you can tell me in advance.
Q: How do you handle privacy during the experience (especially in-home)?
A: Your home is your space, and I treat it that way.
If there are rooms you don’t want used, areas you’d rather avoid, or anything you want kept private, just tell me. I’ll work around it without making it a big thing.
Q: What if someone in our family is neurodivergent or needs things done a little differently?
A: That’s absolutely fine. Neurodivergence is part of my own family, so I’m familiar with the fact that different people can need very different things to feel comfortable.
That doesn’t mean I’ll assume what works for you. It means you never need to justify needing something done differently.
That might mean a slower pace, clearer instructions, more breaks, less eye contact or interaction, or simply giving someone more time to settle.
If there’s anything useful for me to know in advance — sensory sensitivities, anxiety around unfamiliar people, things that help, or things you’d prefer me to avoid — you can tell me. And if you’d rather not explain very much, that’s completely fine too.
We’ll build the experience around what works for your family, rather than expecting your family to adapt to the photography.
═══ AFTER YOUR EXPERIENCE ═══
Q: When will we see our portraits?
A: You’ll see your portraits on the same day as your photography experience. Once we’ve finished photographing, we take a short break — usually around 30–45 minutes — and then meet for your in-person Design Consultation.
Q: How does the ordering / Design Consultation process work?
A: After your photography experience, we take a short break and then meet for your in-person Design Consultation.
I’ll show you the portraits and guide you through choosing the ones that feel most like your family. From there, we decide how you want to live with them in your home — whether that’s wall art, a Signature Collection that tells more of the story, a treasure box, or an album.
If the artwork you choose includes digital files, I’ll explain exactly what’s included.
Q: When do we have to decide on what we want to buy?
A: You’ll make your artwork decisions during the Design Consultation, which takes place on the same day as the experience.
I’ll guide you through everything there and then, so you know exactly what your options are and can make the decisions with me there to help.
Q: How much time should I allow when choosing our artwork during the Design Consultation?
A: Please allow just over an hour for your Design Consultation. I’ll take you through it one step at a time, so you don’t need to work everything out beforehand.
Q: What if I can’t decide which portraits to choose?
A: You don’t need to arrive knowing which portraits you’ll choose.
I’ll take you through them step by step and help you work out which ones feel most like your family and how you want to live with them. The aim isn’t to choose the most portraits. It’s to choose the right ones.
Q: What artwork and products do you offer?
A: I offer wall art, Signature Collections (multiple wall art pieces that tell a whole story), treasure boxes, and albums. I also offer gift certificates for birthdays, celebrations, and other meaningful occasions.
Q: How do I know what will work best in my home?
A: That’s exactly what the Design Consultation is for. I’ll help you choose what suits your space and your family — whether that’s one strong piece, a set that tells more of the story, or something more private like an album or treasure box. We’ll keep it practical and make decisions you’ll feel good about living with every day.
Q: How long does it take to receive our order?
A: Production times depend on what you order. I’ll confirm the expected timescale during your Design Consultation before you place your order.
Q: What if I do not want my portraits used for social media?
A: Yes. If you would prefer your family’s portraits not to be shared on my website or social media, tell me and I will respect that.
Q: How can other family members see and order their own artwork?
A: If parents, grandparents or other family members would like their own artwork, let me know during your Design Consultation and I’ll explain the options available. If needed, I can organise a separate appointment, which can be done online.
Q: Can we order more later?
A: Yes — as long as your portraits are still within my archive period. I keep files archived for 6 months after your experience before deleting them.
If you’d like to add additional artwork later, get in touch and I’ll let you know what’s available and organise an ordering appointment (which can be online).
Q: Do we get digital files we can share online?
A: Digital files are only included with certain artwork. When they are included, they’re files designed for online use and digital devices (phones, computers, digital frames), not for printing.
During your Design Consultation, I’ll explain what’s included with the artwork you choose so you feel completely clear.
═══ INVESTMENT & VALUE ═══
Q: How much does the Family Photography Experience cost?
A: The Family Photography Experience is £499.
That covers the full photography experience on location and your in-person Design Consultation on the same day.
Of the £499, £249 covers the photography experience and Design Consultation, and the remaining £250 is yours to use towards the artwork you choose on the day.
Artwork starts from £220, and what you ultimately invest depends on what you choose for your home.
Q: What is included in the £499 experience fee?
A: Your £499 experience fee includes:
- your on-location Family Photography Experience;
- your same-day in-person Design Consultation;
- £250 to use towards the artwork you choose during that consultation.
Because artwork starts from £220, your included £250 credit can already cover an entry-level artwork piece in full.
If you choose artwork costing more than £250, you simply pay the difference.
Q: Do we get all the digital files?
A: No. Digital files are not automatically included, and I don’t offer every photograph as a set of digital files.
Digital files are included with certain artwork options. When supplied, they are intended for online use and digital devices such as phones, computers and digital frames rather than for printing.
During your Design Consultation, I’ll explain exactly what is included with each artwork option before you make any decisions.
Q: Do we have to spend more than the £499 experience fee?
A: No.
There is no requirement to spend more than the £499 experience fee.
£250 of that fee is already yours to use towards artwork during your Design Consultation. Since artwork starts from £220, there are options available within that included credit.
If the artwork you choose costs more than £250, you can decide whether you want to pay the difference.
Q: Do you offer packages?
A: I don’t use one fixed package for every family.
During your Design Consultation, you can choose from the artwork options available, including wall art, Signature Collections, albums and treasure boxes, depending on what suits your family and your home.
Your included £250 artwork credit is put towards whatever you choose.
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes, payment plans are available.
I’ll explain the available options clearly before you place your artwork order so you know exactly how the payments will work.
Q: When do we pay?
A: The £499 experience fee is paid to secure your date.
Your artwork is then chosen and ordered during the Design Consultation on the same day as your photography experience.
Your included £250 artwork credit is applied to that order, and any remaining balance is dealt with at that point.
If you are using a payment plan, I’ll explain how that works before you place the order.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: I accept card and bank transfer payments.
If there are any specific payment arrangements you need to discuss, you can ask during your Discovery Call or before the experience.
Q: What’s the difference between wall art and a Signature Collection?
A: Wall art is an individual finished piece designed to live in your home.
A Signature Collection brings several pieces together so they work as one display and allow you to show more than a single photograph.
During your Design Consultation, I’ll help you look at the space you have in mind and decide which approach works best for your home.
Q: Do all decision-makers need to attend the Design Consultation?
A: Yes.
Because your artwork is chosen and ordered during the Design Consultation on the same day as your photography experience, everyone involved in making the final purchasing decision needs to be there.
You’ll see the photographs and artwork options together, make the decisions together and place your order on the day.
This is important because artwork cannot be ordered at a later date.
Q: Can we decide on our artwork later or order more afterwards?
A: No. Your artwork is chosen and ordered during your same-day Design Consultation.
That is why I ask all decision-makers to be present.
I’ll take you through the photographs, artwork options, sizes and pricing one step at a time so that you have the information you need to make your decisions on the day.
Your £250 artwork credit is then applied to the order you choose.
Q: Can I use a Gift Certificate?
A: Yes.
Gift Certificates can be purchased for different values or issued through selected promotions, charity events or special campaigns.
If you have a Gift Certificate, its value will be applied according to the terms shown on it. I’ll explain exactly how it works before you book, including what it covers and whether there is anything additional to pay on the day.
═══ WHY CHOOSE US ═══
Q: Is this right for families who don’t want a formal family portrait?
A: Yes. This is designed for families who want something that feels like them — not stiff, not overly posed, and not built around everyone performing. I’ll guide you enough that you feel clear, but the focus is on your family being yourselves.
Q: What kind of families is this experience best suited to?
A: It’s ideal for families who want portraits that feel real — routines, expressions, humour, closeness, and the way you fit together in this chapter.
It’s also a good fit if you want the photographs to become part of your home, rather than simply ending up as another set of files on a screen.
Q: What ages does this work best for?
A: There isn’t one “best” age. I photograph families with young children, older children and teenagers, and the experience is shaped around who they are at that stage.
Q: What if we want natural photographs but still need some direction?
A: That’s exactly the balance I aim for. You won’t be left wondering what to do, but I also won’t direct every expression or interaction. I’ll give you enough structure to feel comfortable, then leave room for your family to be yourselves.
Q: What if my child needs time to warm up or has lots of energy?
A: That’s fine. I work with their temperament and attention span rather than expecting them to perform on cue. The experience is shaped around real family life, not “perfect behaviour”.
Q: What if my partner doesn’t really want to be involved?
A: That’s okay. Someone can take a lighter role in the photography itself, and I won’t force anyone into something uncomfortable.
The one practical thing to know is: if your partner is part of the decision about what you buy, they do need to be present for the same-day Design Consultation, because that’s when your artwork is chosen and ordered.
Q: Should we choose an in-home or outdoor experience?
A: Either can work beautifully — it depends on what feels most like your family. In-home experiences can feel especially true to everyday life and the way you naturally are together at home. Outdoor experiences can give children more space to move and can feel easier for families who prefer being outside. If you’re unsure, I’ll help you decide.
Q: Can grandparents or other family members be included?
A: Yes, depending on what you have in mind. If grandparents or other family members are an important part of the story, tell me during the Discovery Call and we can work out the best way to include them.
Q: What if our family doesn’t fit a traditional setup?
A: That’s absolutely fine. Families come in lots of shapes, and you don’t need to fit a particular version of “family” for this to work. We can keep it simple and focus on who needs to be included and what feels true to you.
Q: Where are you based, and how far do you travel?
A: I’m based in London and typically work within around 50 miles in any direction. If you’re further than that, we’ll discuss it.
Q: What if I’m not sure yet — can I ask a few questions first?
A: Yes. If you’re unsure about location, timing, who to include or whether the experience will work for your family, ask. I’d rather you feel clear before deciding anything.
